I was diagnosed with bowel cancer on the 30th December 2018, after having a colonoscopy undertaken by Mr Bandi. I was fully informed of my options going forward and, due to the position of my tumour, decided to choose with a new way of undertaking this procedure (which was done totally by keyhole surgery). Mr Chitsabesan was on holiday during my initial appointments, so l didn’t actually meet him until the morning of my operation, which was due to take over 6 hours. He explained everything fully, put me at ease and l therefore had total confidence in him, Mr Bandi and the team as a whole. Due to the position of my tumour l needed to have a temporary stoma, which was subsequently successfully reversed by Mr Chitsabesan in September 2019. I am eternally grateful to Mr Chitsabesan and his team for the care and treatment that l received. He gave me my life back and l and my family can’t thank him enough for his professionalism and expertise. I can thoroughly recommend him as a surgeon.

Mr Chitsabesan put me at ease from the moment I attended the Nuffield Hospital in York. I needed a repair to a previous hernia op which had gone wrong. (Not performed by Mr Chitsabesan). I was completely aware of the procedure, what he was going to do, what it entailed and what I had to do once I left hospital. He has a very pleasant and easy manner and made me feel confidant I was in the right place with the 'right' surgeon in attendance. No complaints whatsoever.

I have recently visited Mr Chitsabesan with some medical symptoms I have been worrying about. In meeting Mr C I was instantly put at ease with his warm welcome and smile. After a discussion and examination he explained some of the tests he would like to do to help with diagnosis. At no time did I feel any pressure to have these tests done or to do anything I wasn't comfortable with, he explained what would happen any why he was doing it. Afterwards if felt so much better and I was totally confident to be in his hands going forward. Things I forgot to ask him I emailed his secretary and was answered in hours. After the tests, which again everything was explained and I was in control throughout, Mr C discussed with me the results straight away. I would be happy and confident to recommend Mr Chitsabesan to anyone.

Mr Chitsabesan repaired an Umbilical Hernia for me. A very neat job and all seems to be well 2 weeks after the operation. He explained everything clearly and put me at ease. Very approachable but also very professional. Hope I don't have to use him again ! But if I did, wouldn't hesitate to let him sort me out.
